Designed exclusively for alumni of the FLEX/FLEX Abroad and YES/YES Abroad programs, Global Village on the Move 2024 combines worldwide connections and cross-cultural engagement with leadership development and collaborative team projects. PHASE 1: Virtual Global Community and Consulting Project

September 3-October 18, 2024

Begin your leadership journey in a unique virtual community with fellow Villagers from around the world. Work in a cross-cultural and geographically diverse team on a seven-week consulting project with an international client. Develop a personal leadership action plan in a CliftonStrengths leadership assessment and coaching workshop. In addition to your own cohort, engage with others from the Iacocca Global Village, faculty, alumni, and leaders through virtual roommate experiences and gathering spaces.

This phase is part-time (approximately 10 hours per week). Participants can expect two synchronous 90-minute sessions per week, which will be scheduled between the hours of 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Eastern Time. Makeup work may be submitted in case of a missed session, but no more than four sessions may be missed in total to remain in the program and be invited to phase two. In addition to the synchronous session, participants will have one team meeting per week, at a time decided upon by their project group.

PHASE 2: Leadership Experience in Istanbul, Turkey

November 16-23, 2024

After Phase 1, stay in touch online and then travel to a six-day residency in Istanbul, Turkey. There you will meet fellow Villagers in-person and collaborate to complete a Sustainable Development Goal Challenge. You will work with mentors and others to enhance your leadership skills, enjoy local culture and site visits, and engage with community leaders.

Program costs, including travel to and from the conference venues, meals, accommodation (shared room with one other alumnus/a), and visa expenses, are fully covered by the U.S. Department of State.

PHASE 3: Project Implementation

March 1-June 30, 2025

Participants are highly encouraged to implement projects focused on the SDGs that will utilize the knowledge and skills gained through the workshop to positively impact their communities. Each participant will be eligible to receive grant funding of up to $250.00. Alumni can choose whether to work individually or in groups.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Must be a FLEX, FLEX Abroad, YES, or YES Abroad alumnus/a in good standing.
• Applicants must be 19 years old or older by November 1, 2024.
• Alumni of program year 2023-2024 are not eligible.
• Cannot have participated in an international FLEX or YES alumni workshop in the year prior to GVoM (September 2023-August 2024).
• Cannot have participated in Global Village on the Move in 2022 or 2023.
• Cannot have participated in Global Village at Lehigh University in 2022 or 2023 (alumni from previous GV years and alumni who were deferred from GV 2024 to GV 2025 may also apply).

It’s advisable that interested applicants begin their application as soon as possible. A required component of the application is submitting a recommendation form completed by someone who can speak to the quality of your work and other professional/academic skills.
